Keeping It Clean - The Best Cleaners For Teenage Acne

May 16th, 2008 proactive acne Posted in Acne Products, Acne Remedy, Acne Removal, acen solution, ache solutions, acme solution, acne sloution, acnes olution, acnesolution, ance solution, ane solution, prescription acne, pro active acne, solution for acne, solutions for acne Comments Off

For the acne sufferer, finding the right facial cleanser is an important step if reducing the problem. With so many products out there, however, the right cleanser can be hard to find. There are literally hundreds of skin care products that are advertised to be the best. Unfortunately there is no best product for everyone and without the right one for you; teenage acne can become an even larger problem than it already is.

As an esthetician myself, who often works with parents and teens for solutions to various skin problems, one question I hear often is, what is the best cleaner for teenage acne? The short answer to that is, there is no best cure. There are great products out there. But, the truth is that what worked for one teen acne sufferer, won’t always produce the same results for the next

To help you out, I have developed this guide to choosing the right facial cleansers. The right cleaning products can mean the difference between reducing teenage acne and aggravating the problem. A good cleanser will get to the root of the problem; not just provide a quick fix solution.

Teenage Acne Cleansers to Avoid Before we talk about which cleaners may work, let’s discuss those that don’t. Some of the bad products out there can have negative effects on your skins overall health. Even when they seem like they are working the effects they have below the surface may make your acne worse in the long run. There are two main types of cleansing products to avoid.

  • Alcohol Based Cleansers: Many so-called acne treatments contain large amounts of alcohol, and other chemical agents. They may come in the form of cleansing pads, spot treatments, or wash products. The unfortunate thing is that these cleansers may work for a time. It’s unfortunate because, if you knew what these products were really doing to your skin, you likely wouldn’t buy them.

An alcohol based cleans dries out the skin (sometimes to the point of injury the skin itself). It may provide a quick fix to reducing your acne problem for a short time, but when you quit using the product you should expect your acne to come back three-fold. Even worse, the longer you use this type of product the more injury and irritation you are causing to your skin.

  • Chemical Cleansers That Also Claim to Moisturize: The next type of cleanser to look out for is the acne products that also claim to moisturize. Unless the product is sold as a two part system, with a cleanser and a moisturizer, the claim to moisturize likely means that oils have been added to the cleanser. This can actually make your acne worse. Cleanser is for cleaning and moisturizer if for moisturizing. It is difficult to make a product that effectively does both.

Things to Look For in Cleaners for Teenage Acne The best facial cleansers are actually natural cleansers that don’t contain a lot of chemical problems. A non-abrasive green tea facial scrub, for example, may be a good choice. For many people these more expensive products aren’t an option.

If you are going to use a department store cleanser, then the reality of it is that, there is no definitive product that will work for everyone. There are, however, some things to look for that are beneficial in reducing teenage acne problems.

When you’re reading that package in the department store, look for these terms.

  • Oil Free: Since the oil in your skin is part of the problem in the first place, it stands to reason that cleaning products that are oil free will be better in reducing teenage acne.

  • Non-irritating: Products that cause irritation can increase the problem. The health of your skin is important to beginning to reduce acne problems. Dry, irritated skin is less effective at healing.

  • Non-Comedogenic (doesn’t promote acne): This term is especially important if you are looking at products that aren’t acne specific. You won’t be doing yourself any favors if you choose a comedogenic product that furthers your acne problem.

Conclusion There is no such thing as one product that will work for everyone. In many cases there are recommended steps to reducing acne. Our own teenage acne product, for example, can be a great start in reducing teenage acne problems. When it comes to facial cleansers, at least, you now have a general guide to sorting through all of the ads, and finding one that will work for you.

Laser Acne Treatments - A Permanent Solution To Acne Scars

May 14th, 2008 proactive acne Posted in Acne Cleanser, Acne Creams, Acne Products, Acne Remedy, Acne Removal, acen solution, ache solution, ache solutions, acme solution, acne gel, acne oslution, acne sloution, acne slution, acne sollution Comments Off

For many acne sufferers, facial acne scarring is just as unbearable as the skin condition itself. Acne laser treatments give you a chance to reverse the effects of the pimples and enjoy clear healthy skin. Many techniques are now available to treat different types of scarring in different ways.

Acne laser treatments are generally used for patients who suffer with a severe case of acne. This type of treatment uses a high concentration of light or radio waves treat acne by increasing collagen production, remove to surface layers of the skin, or killing the oil producing glands on the skin’s surface. Although these treatments can be expensive and require several visits, they are considered permanent.

There are two main types of laser acne treatments:

1. Ablative laser treatments

The laser equivalent of a chemical peel, this method uses short pulses of light to precisely burn away at the surface of the skin. As the skin heals, it returns smooth and soft and often with less wrinkles and smaller pores. The Er:YAG laser removes the skins surface by projecting concentrated streams of light into the water molecules in your skin.

This type of laser is used specifically on patients who have scarring with no new outbreaks. Effective on pitted or indented scars, the CO2 laser eliminates the skin’s surface layer by layer and carries a lower set of risks and side effects. It forces the skin to restructure itself, but it also softens the tissue of older scars.

2. Non-Ablative laser treatments

These lasers, which include the Nd:YAG laser and the Fraxel laser, eliminate scars and kill oil glands from the inside rather than destroying away at the skin’s surface. Known as a non-wounding laser, they are projected along under the skin to improve the tension and tone of the skin while improving collagen growth.

Originally used as a hair removal technique and for etching glass, the Nd:YAG (Neodymium: Yttrium-Aluminum-Garnet) laser involves less risks than its higher energy partner Er:YAG laser. It is most effective on newer, shallow scars. Fraxel laser treatment is also best on indented acne scars. It eliminates the chance of having the acne spread and can be used on small selective areas.

Laser treatments carry their own set of side effects and health risks. As a general rule, the more aggressive the laser treatment and the more treatments you have, your chance of experiencing side effects increases. Mild side effects such red, tender, and sensitive skin as well as swelling are common and can last up to two weeks after a treatment. Unfortunately, side effects that are more serious are also possible. Some patients do experience hyper-pigmentation, burns, crusting, scarring, and infection.

So there you go.

Laser acne treatment is an expensive and serious permanent solution for acne and acne scars. It might take up to 18 months to see the end result, but for most people dealing with severe acne, it is well worth it. A specialized physician will be able to help you choose the right type of laser treatment that is most beneficial to you.

Vitamin for Acne

Some of the best supplements for treating acne are vitamins. These are essential nutrients that the body must have from external sources, i.e. food or supplements, in order to operate efficiently. Here is a quick summary of what your body needs in order to stay acne free…

Beta Carotene - Vitamin A

Beta carotene is an antioxidant that is the precursor to vitamin A, known to effectively help clear acne. Beta carotene is sourced from vegetables and can be taken as a supplement. The strong acne drug accutane is derived from vitamin a, yet has negative side effects. Beta carotene is the natural source of vitamin a, and is absorbed better than regular vitamin a.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant that is proven to maintain optimal skin health by destroying free radicals in cells. It also has a proven healing action on acne scars. As vitamin e is fat soluble, you do need some fat in your diet to absorb the nutrient. This means you should take vitamin e with your main evening meal, which generally contains the most fat.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C improves the action of vitamin e and beta carotene, and is also an antioxidant, although this time is water soluble. Vitamin C promotes properly hydrated skin and clean cells free of damaging agents that cause acne at the cellular level. Chromium can improve the action of vitamin c so is worth taking with the vitamin c for enhanced performance.

If you wanted to know what is the best vitamin for acne, then these three; vitamin a, vitamin e and vitamin c is your answer.

Benzoyl peroxide is another safe and effective topical agent for the early treatment of acne. Available in varying strengths, this chemical works by penetrating into the oil glands of the skin and killing bacteria responsible for acne inflammation. By peeling the skin, benzoyl peroxide also prevents new pimples from forming.

“Always apply it to thoroughly dry skin and carefully avoid the eyes, mouth and nostrils. Start with a five percent gel once a day, then twice a day, then try a 10 percent gel. If your skin becomes irritated, go back to the five percent. The first week of use may result in a worsening condition, so be patient,” said Kurt Butler and Dr. Lynn Rayner of the John A. Burns School of Medicine, University of Hawaii, in The Best Medicine.

“Beware of too much burning and peeling; prolonged discomfort can aggravate your case and discourage you from following through. However, some irritation, tightness and dryness is a sign that the product is doing its work. The idea is to expose and toughen the skin in gradual stages, to build up tolerance slowly,” added Dr. Frederic Haberman, a dermatologist at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, in Your Skin; A Dermatologist’s Guide to A Lifetime of Beauty and Health.

Like benzoyl peroxide, clindamycin works by suppressing the growth of bacteria. Because it contains alcohol, this topical antibiotic may irritate the skin and should be kept away from heat because the solution is flammable.

“Before applying topical clindamycin, wash the affected area thoroughly with a mild soap and warm water. Then rinse well and pat dry. To avoid skin irritation from the alcohol, wait at least 30 minutes after washing or shaving before applying this medication,” according to Consumer Guide’s Prescription Drugs. Results are visible in six to 12 weeks.

If there is no improvement, be sure to consult your doctor, especially if there are persistent or bothersome side effects. Clindamycin may cause diarrhea, dry skin, fatigue, headache, nausea, oily skin or stomach irritation but these should disappear as your body adjusts to the medication.

Major side effects are bloody or pus-containing diarrhea, increased urination, itching, sore throat, or swelling of the face. Although it appears to be safe, Consumer Guide said extensive studies in humans have not been conducted so be sure to tell your doctor if you are pregnant before using clindamycin.

“If you are using another topical medication as well as clindamycin, it is best to apply them at different times to increase their effectiveness and to reduce the chance of skin irritation,” Consumer Guide added. (Next: Tretinoin for acne.)

Anti Acne & Anti Aging Skin Care Solutions

People who suffer from skin problems or are facing the threat of growing old and getting wrinkles should know that there are actually products that can help solve these problems. Many skin care products are now available in the market to help people with acne problems and bothersome creases on the side of their eyes or mouth. These products are designed to treat skin problems, wrinkles and acne, and some of them are being advertised as multi-purpose skin care products.

If you are looking for an anti acne anti aging skin care treatment or an anti acne anti aging skin care program that can help with your skin problems, you may have to consult a doctor. Since aging skin and acne are considered different kinds of skin problems, you may need to check with an expert to help you determine whether or not the anti acne anti aging skin care product or program you are considering to use is indeed worth a try.

Multi purpose products are widely available all over the internet and in local drug stores. Because there are so many advertisements that are being made to promote them, you may be easily swayed by the claims that are made about these products. Whatever these products claim to be able to do, you should learn to read between the lines and see the word “may”, which is a common occurrence in most statements made about such products. This means that they may or they may not have that effect you expect them to give you. And if you are paying more for such products because of the multi purpose claim, then you may need to be more careful about choosing your treatments.

One sure way to get the right kind of treatment you need for your skin, whether it is for anti aging or for acne, is to consult a doctor who specializes in skin treatments. While there may be one or a few products that are effective for both skin problems, nothing can be compared to the professional care of a licensed skin doctor who knows the exact reasons for your acne breakouts or the degree of skin problems you are experiencing. A skin doctor can also give you the right kind of medication for any of these skin problems or he can recommend you a multi purpose treatment that will solve both problems simultaneously.

Why Choose Natural Skin Care Products for Acne?

May 4th, 2008 proactive acne Posted in Acne Cleanser, Acne Creams, acen solution, ache solutions, acme solution, acne gel, acne sollution, acne soluiton, acne solutin, back ache solutions, back acne solutions, best acne solutions, prescription acne, pro active acne, solution for acne, solutions for acne Comments Off

The reason why people choose natural skin care products for acne as opposed to those that are made of synthetic materials is often due to the fact that a lot of synthetic materials are known to cause more harm than good. There are a lot of natural skin care products for acne that people can choose from, and these are all made from natural ingredients that are less likely to cause allergic reactions or make a person’s skin break out. Natural skin care products for acne are often the most appropriate choice for those who have very sensitive skin that cannot withstand certain harsh chemicals used in some acne treatment products.

Finding natural skin care products for acne is not that hard to do as long as you know what kind of products you are looking for. The products that claim that they are natural skin care products for acne are often made of non-synthetic ingredients, and they are mostly herbal or botanical. These skin care products that are all natural are marketed in such a way that they will appeal to consumers and acne sufferers who need acne care solutions that do not contain synthetic ingredients that may cause damage to their skin.

Whether or not natural skin care products for acne are better than other kinds of acne treatment products depends on the formulation of the products and how closely the user follows the instructions of use. It is also advisable that a person suffering from acne do not try something that is not recommended by skin care experts or dermatologists since some products may be falsely marketed as effective acne treatment products.

Aside from acne treatment products that help people get rid of acne, there are also natural skin care products for acne prone individuals that help keep a person’s skin clean and healthy. Such products are effective in keeping breaks out at bay, and they are usually cleansing and toning products that are aimed at promoting healthy skin. There are a lot of products out there that are created for this purpose, but quite a number of them have certain components that can either cause or aggravate acne. This may be due to the clogging of the person’s pores or allergic reactions to one or two synthetic substances that are included in the formulation of these products. Natural skin care products for acne may still cause some of these reactions, but due to the fact that they contain more natural ingredients, they are less likely to do so than other non-natural skin products.

The Best Acne Care Product Doctors Might Recommend

With the great number of acne care products and programs you see online and in television advertisements, you may sometimes find yourself a little confused trying to find the perfect solution for your skin problems. One way you can try to make sure whether or not the product you are thinking of buying is going to work for you is to try and find an acne care product skin treatment that is highly recommended by doctors. A lot of these products that are considered effective in the treatment of acne are being endorsed by celebrities, and while they may show you rather convincing before and after pictures or give heart warming testimonials about what happened to their skin after they were treated with such and such products, nothing is more effective than an acne care product skin doctors say can truly work to help you with your acne problems.

Approaching a skin doctor to find out whether or not a particularly popular acne product is going to work for you is probably a wise recourse since such a doctor will know what medicinal components can work for your particular type of skin, acne problem and age. A skin doctor has studied extensively about the human skin and he or she is well qualified to tell you whether or not an acne care treatment will work on you. There may be an acne care product skin doctors recommend online that may not work for you since there are certain cases that do need the personal attention of your local skin doctors. These special cases require the special care of a dermatologist, and they are usually those that are not just simple acne problems brought about by puberty or excess oil and dirt on a person’s skin.

You should treat your acne problems with a careful scrutiny of the products and procedures involved, and you should do proper research to find out what acne can do to your skin, what some acne treatments can do for you and what a lot of skin doctors consider the best acne care products you can use on your skin. With an acne care product skin doctors recommend, you can be fairly certain that your acne problems will soon be solved.

An example of an acne care product skin doctors are most likely to endorse is one that does not have harsh chemicals that will do more harm than good to your skin. Another quality that you should look out for when choosing an acne care product is the protection it provides against the sun and other harmful elements. You should also consider if the ingredients used for the product are suitable for your skin type. These are just a few of the things you will have to take into account when choosing an acne care product, and you should listen to the advice of skin doctors about these to get the best possible results for your skin.
